Workshop Along the Flow of the River of Time

On the 14th of February 2024, a workshop titled “Along the River of Time” took place. The workshop focused on the history of London (specifically Londonia) during the Roman era.

Our journey began outside Euston metro station, where we gathered and headed towards the British Museum. Along the way, we discussed some notable buildings and counted Roman columns, of which there were quite a few. Upon arrival at the museum, we had lunch, created a mind map of words related to the Romans, and then began filling out worksheets. We named our own empire, transcribed the name into Roman alphabet, and then set off on our journey. We went through everything related to Rome and then Greece. We saw plenty of beautifully decorated amphorae, statues, and jewellery. Gradually, we filled in worksheets where we looked for differences or drew Roman soldiers.

During the tour, we also drew things we would take with us to found our own empire. After finishing our journey through the centuries, we returned to our base and using colored paper, pastels, and anything else we had at hand, we created the River Thames and Londonium around it. Since we needed to get to our empire, we had to make boats. It was hard work, but we finally finished and could set sail towards the next adventure awaiting us in the park near the museum.

Our final task was the Olympic Games. We tackled egg and spoon race, ring toss, and jumping over a rope, but we successfully managed everything and thus concluded our adventure.
