Christmas Concert at the Czech Embassy
On 7 December, the Czech Embassy hosted a Christmas concert celebrating Czech culture through music, poetry, and dance. The event, organized by the Czech School Without Borders, Spolek Okénko, and the Czech School Without Borders Manchester, began at 16:30 and brought together Czech communities in the UK.
The concert opened with a violin solo by professional violinist Leona Gogolitsina, followed by a performance of the modern Christmas song Stačí Věřit by the Citronky choir of the Czech School Without Borders London. Other traditional Czech Christmas songs included Půjdem Spolu do Betléma, Tisíc Andělů, Bude Zima Bude Mráz, Bratře Kubo (during which the audience participated), and Narodil se Kristus Pán. The singers were accompanied by a violinist, a flutist, a pianist, and two guitarists.
The program also included Christmas-themed poetry readings and a guitar solo. Last of the musical performances was a traditional Czech dance, at the end of which many members of the audience joined in, contributing to the lively and warm atmosphere.
The evening concluded with a reception where guests enjoyed traditional Czech treats.
