The Visit of Czech Ambassador Václav Bartuška

The Czech School had the honour of welcoming the Czech Ambassador, Václav Bartuška, together with members of his team, for an official visit to the school. The meeting provided a unique opportunity for our senior students to gain first-hand insight into the work of a diplomat and the responsibilities associated with representing the Czech Republic abroad.

During an engaging discussion with students from the highest grades, Ambassador Bartuška spoke about his professional journey, his previous experience, and the challenges and rewards of diplomatic service. He encouraged students to remain curious, open-minded, and internationally oriented. In particular, he emphasized that bilingualism represents a significant competitive advantage in today’s interconnected world, regardless of the career path they may choose in the future. His words resonated strongly with our students, who benefit daily from a bilingual educational environment.

Following the student session, the Ambassador met with members of the School’s Supervisory Board. The discussion focused primarily on current developments in international educational cooperation, including the potential return of the United Kingdom to the Erasmus+ programme. The exchange of views highlighted the importance of maintaining strong educational partnerships and creating opportunities for students to gain international experience.

The visit concluded with the Ambassador attending a performance by our school choir, the Citrónci. The concert provided a warm and joyful finale to an inspiring day, showcasing the talent, creativity, and community spirit that define our school.

We sincerely thank Ambassador Václav Bartuška and his team for their time, openness, and inspiring contribution. It was a privilege to host such a distinguished guest, and we look forward to further opportunities for dialogue and cooperation in the future.
