Fake News

In the fifth half-term, Anne-Marie Nedoma, a specialist in data analysis and the psychology of disinformation, visited Year 8 and Year 9. She introduced our students to how and why disinformation and fake news are created. She also provided them with practical guidance on how to recognise such content and how to approach what they read online or in newspapers with a critical mindset. The session was very beneficial, and we are already looking forward to the second part, which will take place in June.

Anne-Marie Nedoma

She studied statistics and economics at the University of Economics in Prague, later adding sociology and law to her repertoire of disciplines that are vital for work with data and information, ensuring that the interpretation of data keeps pace with the professional methods of collecting and analysing them.

Her professional career began in science and research, but she ultimately preferred to apply her theoretical knowledge and skills in commercial practice, especially in managerial roles and international companies, as they provide an abundance of data and ample space for thinking in the broadest context. For example, she led the Czech branch of The Gallup Organization, worked as a regional HR Manager at Nestlé and Readers’ Digest, and protected the Carmelite Publishing House from bankruptcy. She returned to research through short-term projects, such as for the headquarters of the Czech Centres (with the eloquent name ‘Czech Image’).

Currently, she works as an interim compliance manager for various corporate clients and lectures at the University of Economics.
